In our first instalment of Back In MY Day, we feature a 100+ kg match from the 1976 Olympics featuring Harry Geris of Canada facing Yorihide Isogai of Japan. Wrestling in his third and final Olympics, Harry Geris was in a must-win scenario, a loss of any nature eliminating him from the competition. The video begins at the start of the second round, with Isogai leading 3-2. The length of the round? 3 minutes. How many rounds are there? 3. Two heavyweights going toe to toe for 9 minutes........no clinches.......and a constant threat of being called for passivity if they don't stop moving forward. If that isn't uphill both ways, I don't know what is. Enjoy!

Back In MY Day #1
We've all heard it before. Your grandparents had to walk to school in 14 feet of snow, uphill, both ways. Life was rugged, brutal and a penny wasn't just something you squished into a souvenir token from the local zoo. While it may seem cliché, wrestlers have similar stories. Rounds were long, scores weren't reset and passivity lurked around every corner. Unlike the story of your great grandfather hunting wolves with his bare hands, however, the internet has provided us with video evidence of the glory days of amateur wrestling.
